LeBook Ad–Changed my mind
Decided to change my LeBook ad…. The whole MCA collection of photos looks very editorial for 2009 and I think this looks much better.
Mont Tremblant, Canada
We went fishing and swimming in the lake; I did a lot of mountain biking on some very tough and wet trails…. She has only done climbing gyms before so it was great to get her on some real stone!
LeBook Ad Preview
I was going over my LeBook ad for next year with Catarina from Marge’s office. It’s always hard to make a decision about what to put in. I totally sweat over the decisions. How are people using that book to find photographers? Are they going through it looking for a particular image or is it [...]
Weekend Fishing
Every summer we would go to the Jersey Shore and get a house for a week on Long Beach Island…. The Hamptons is really Manhattan by the beach with all the fabulous restaurants or maybe Westchester by the beach with all the manicured lawns.
Wedding in Bellport
My brother-in-law is getting married on Long Island this weekend, so we decided to get a head start on it and head for Montauk for a few days. I love the beach and so does my family but we have seldom gone to the Hamptons. I live in Westchester and that makes the Hamptons particularly [...]
New Office–Plastic Walls
My new office is almost complete (I moved from Spring Street after 14 years; my building was sold to a new landlord). I have a corner office on 28th street now with eight windows. So I wanted to take advantage of the light. Several of the walls are made of Lexan (Designed by Architects David [...]
Seeing Billboards

Artist Series: Wangechi Mutu
Today I photographed Wangechi Mutu at her studio in Brooklyn. She does these amazing paintings and collages. I really love her pieces. You can’t just glance at them; there are so many layers to them, so casual viewing is not allowed. Considering how violent and somewhat shocking her pieces are she was very soft spoken [...]
Conde Nast Traveler–Lakshadweep Islands India
It’s a double-header month with a story on India’s Lakshadweep Islands in Conde Nast Traveler in the August issue…. Leaving the island we had to take four planes to get back to New York including a stopover in Iceland for a sick passenger.
Sea Kayaking with Men’s Journal
My story on a Baja Mexico Sea Kayaking trip came out in the August issue of Men’s Journal…. I had expected to be in a kayak all the time but the expedition group had planned on me traveling via a chase boat. The boat enabled me to get a variety of angles on the situation but it certainly was different from my past Men’s Journal expeditions-Snowmobiling Newfoundland for ten days (!)
